John Mulqueen, M.D.

John MulqueenDr. Mulqueen, along with his wife Paula, founded Forward in Health in 2006. Both had traveled to Haiti doing medical missions, John first traveling in 2001 with The Haitian Apostolate, a mission of the Catholic Diocese of Worcester, Massachusetts.

Dr. Mulqueen, a graduate of Boston College, The University of Massachusetts Medical School, and the residency program at Maine Medical Center in Portland Maine, was a practicing pediatrician in private practice in Gardner, Ma. from 1989-2013. He was a pediatric hospitalist at Heywood Hospital in Gardner, Ma. from 2013 to 2016.

Dr. Mulqueen has been the president of Forward in Health from its inception in 2006 until the present.

Dr. Mulqueen has said, "After traveling to Haiti for the first time in 2001, I was profoundly shaken by the poverty and lack of basic medical care that I encountered. Although my life would have been easier if I had forgotten what I saw and not assumed the responsibility we all have to right a wrong, I found this impossible to do. I had the medical knowledge to help. The resources were available. Bringing a life- saving medical clinic to Fonfred, Haiti would be difficult but not an impossible task. In the end I have had a much more fulfilling life while helping the people in Haiti." “Completing the construction and opening the medical clinic has been a team effort requiring the passion of an entire community.”
